Glyndola Massenburg-Beasley
Founder and Principal
Glyndola Massenburg-Beasley has an extensive background in human relations and organizational planning, supervising and financial auditing. She previously served for 25-years as President and CEO at Durham Regional Financial Center. Under her leadership, the HUD approved non-profit agency provided financial literacy and counseling, and homeownership education and counseling for residents with critical human service needs. Ms. Massenburg-Beasley has successfully secured and administered multi-million dollars in federal and state funding, and tirelessly served as an advocate on behalf of area citizens at the local, state and federal level. Over the course of her career, she served as an executive banker and chief auditor for the third largest bank in the US. Ms. Massenburg-Beasley has served on a number of local, state and national boards including Durham Business and Professional Chain, Durham Workforce Development Board, The Small Business Advisory Council, Durham Chamber of Commerce, NC Association of Housing, and U.S. Treasury Roundtable. She has initiated and successfully lobbied for economic development projects that created numerous local jobs including the establishment of the Southpoint Regional Mall that has generated significant revenues to the local economy.
Rick Leggett
IT & Economic Development
Rick Leggett has over 20 years of experience in IT and Economic Development serving urban communities and rural areas. He serves as a consultant nationwide in the areas of business & community development, technology, healthcare, housing, vocational training, capacity building, and capital financing. Mr. Leggett has been responsible for coordinating and administering multi-million dollar economic development initiatives that lead to successful collaborative efforts with multi-national corporations, federal, state & local government agencies and community-based organizations.
Joe Matz
Business & Succession Planning
Joe Matz has over 30 years experience working with small and medium sized businesses helping clients with niche market identification, message composition, marketing, sales training, pricing strategies, operations and process improvement. He has owned businesses in Marketing and Advertising, Restaurant & Sports Bar, Mortgage Brokerage, Language School, Convention & Public Speaking, Tourism, Technology (Website Development & Hosting Service) as well as two Business Consulting Agencies in the U. S. and Italy. Throughout his career, Mr. Matz has helped numerous business owners grow their company's bottom line producing dramatic and immediate increase in leads, sales, and revenue. His expertise spans globally having consulted for businesses in the United States, Europe and South America.
Denice Mosby
Business Management & Financial Services
Denice Mosby has over 20 years of experience in Banking and Finance. During her career, she has served in executive management roles for the third largest bank in the nation. Ms. Mosby has an extensive track record supporting businesses and customers, along with high net worth clients. In her leadership capacities, she has worked closely with Underwriters, Processors, Lending Officers, Home Mortgage Consultants, Managers, Title Agents and Attorneys to ensure high level of customer satisfaction. With direct supervision of Loan Documentation Specialist teams responsible for pre-closing & closing documentation for HARP refinance, she was responsible for ensuring compliance with bank, investor, legal, regulatory and business policies. Ms. Mosby has developed and managed complex banking instruments to streamline and improve lending processes that evaluate businesses, financial strength, and credit-worthiness of borrowers. She has also owned a successful delivery company and a full service brokerage firm.
Katie Lawson
Taxation & Legal Services
Katie Lawson has over 12 years experience in Tax and Corporate Law. Before attending law school, Katie served as an assistant branch manager at a large corporate bank. She decided to further her education and earned a degree from North Carolina Central University School of Law, along with a Master’s of Law in Taxation from The University of Washington School of Law. Katie began her legal career with a regional law firm, where she practiced tax and corporate law. During her tenure, Katie has focused primarily in tax controversy where she effectively defended clients against both the IRS and North Carolina Department of Revenue. She regularly conducts seminars, in collaboration with the IRS and local Community Colleges, to educate small businesses and individuals about tax and corporate matters. Katie is also an active member in numerous legal and professional organizations.
Omar Beasley
Fund Development
Omar Beasley, is the Founding Board Chair for the Durham Sports Commission where he led the sports commission in bringing over 30 sporting events to Durham, that amass an economic impact over $44million to the Durham market. He served three terms as Chairman of the Durham Committee on the Affairs of Black People. During his terms, Omar raised over $200k by hosting the largest DCABP Founder's Day banquet with over 700 guests to see Madam Vice President Kamala Harris, and spearheaded efforts to raise over $100k in a single election cycle. He is the founder of Bull City Express Track Club and helped over 100 student-athletes to secure college scholarships across the nation.
